A Graduate of the Berklee School of Music, Instrumental Performance Arts, Boston, Mr. Vandivier also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Jazz Performance from San José State University. Mr. Vandivier has over thirty years of public appearances with such artists as David Grisman, Richie Cole, Smith Dobson, Albert "Tootie Heath," John Stowell, Bruce Forman, John Handy, Mose Allison, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. Mr. Vandivier has also worked with the San José Symphony Orchestra as well as the orchestras of the American Musical Theater of San José, Opera San José, and Theatreworks. Mr. Vandivier’s performance and teaching career has led him to both solo and group performances in The Hague, Berlin, Abidjan (Ivory Coast, Africa), the Chicago Opera House, the Wilshire Theatre in Los Angeles, the Berklee Performance Center in Boston, the Great American Music Hall, the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, the Seattle Opera House, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Carnegie Hall, both in New York City. With his own group, Vandivier, Mr. Vandivier produced and composed the music and arrangements for two CDs. Serving as co-producer and composer, he recorded two CDs with the group Primary Colors, featuring vocalist Nate Pruitt. In addition, Mr. Vandivier’s work is ongoing with various other Bay Area artist projects, performances and CD productions. Mr. Vandivier has also enjoyed a long association with the Stanford community including several years of teaching at the Stanford Jazz Workshop.
