Greer Ellison
Studied with George Lister at the Northern California Center for the Alexander Technique. Studied with modern and Baroque flute teachers Robert Willoughby, Frans Vester, and Barthold Kuijken. Winner of an International Telephone and Telegraph grant through the IIE. Studied flute in Den Haag for two years on this grant. Member of the California Symphony for 20 years. Principal and solo flutist with the Portland Baroque Orchestra for ten years. Member of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in the 1990s. Toured Peru with NYC’s Poetica Musica. Performed solo recitals and taught master classes at numerous National Flute Association conventions around the country. Currently on the faculty at the University of California in Santa Cruz and Stanford University; maintains a private studio in Palo Alto, CA. Recorded a CD of works by Louis-Gabriel Guillemain on Baroque flute with members of the Ensemble Mirable: Conversations Galantes (Ensemble Mirable).
