Michael Galisatus is Professor of Music and Director of Bands at the College of San Mateo, directing both the college big bands and the wind ensemble. Prior to his appointment at the College of San Mateo, Mr. Galisatus produced award winning ensembles at various San Francisco Peninsula schools including Aragon, El Camino, and South San Francisco High Schools, and directed jazz ensembles at San Francisco State University and The College of Notre Dame.

Studied with Danny Patiris, Joe Henderson, John Handy, Dave Baker. Director of the Stanford Jazz Workshop since 1972; artistic and administrative director Stanford Jazz Festival. Bay Area performance (alto saxophone) in various jazz combinations.

Held previous teaching positions at University of California Berkeley and the Jazzschool in Berkeley. Guest lecturer at Stanford, San José State, Cal State Monterey Bay, University of Wisconsin/Madison, Cal State Sonoma, Jazzcamp West, and the Monterey Jazz Youth Program.
