Erika Arul

Erika’s career as a pianist has involved solo, chamber and concerto performances, and she has recorded (with Mary Jane Cope) the world premier of Emily Howell’s From Darkness, Light for Centaur Records (2010).  In 2000, she joined the music department at the University of California, Santa Cruz where she taught theory and piano, specializing in aural analysis.  She joined the music department at Stanford in 2013 where she teaches aural analysis and musicianship skills. Erika also has an avid interest in early twentieth century performances of baroque repertoire and has delivered lectures and directed performances of ‘historical baroque’ in the United States and the UK, including a lecture at the 2012 Reactions to the Record symposium at Stanford University.  She currently resides in beautiful Santa Cruz, California with her husband and three children.
