Feud
Feud is composed in three sections. The first and second introduce melodic material upon which the third section elaborates. While the first section follows a predictable rotation of key shifts, the second section suspends triadic harmony in favor of a quartal harmonic structure based on perfect fourths and fifths. In the third section, the material from earlier in the piece is fragmented and reimagined in a hectic ensemble followed by a somber conclusion. — Mitchell Garmany
