Student Vocalists Represent at NATS Cal-Western Finals

The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Cal-Western Regional auditions took place at San Jose State University over the weekend, and  several Stanford students from the vocal program were invited to participate following their video submissions in the preliminary round. Following the semi-finals on Saturday, January 16, five students from the studio of Kathryne Jennings advanced to the final round of competition on Sunday, January 17.  

Join us in congratulating the following student on this outstanding accomplishment! 

  • Mack Smith (coterm, music minor) – 1st place in Classical TBB (Men) Upper College
  • Henry Cargill (senior, TAPS major) – 1st place in Musical Theater TBB (Men) Upper College
  • Donovan Jasper (coterm, music major) – 2nd place in Classical TBB (Men) Upper College
  • Sanjana Khurana (senior, music minor) – 2nd place in Classical Treble (Women) Upper College
  • Rachelle Weiss (senior, music major) – 3rd place in Musical Theater Treble (Women) Musical Theater

Recent Stanford graduate and student of Kathryne Jennings, Junjie (Jason) Zhu (MS '18 - statistics, and PhD '20 - Electrical Engineering), placed 2nd in Classical Adult Avocational. Last, but not least, we also want to recognize faculty members Steven Lightburn and Benjamin Liupaogo for providing outstanding support to our students as collaborative pianists.
