The Stanford New Ensemble was featured in a recent Stanford Report article by Robin Wander, who discusses the Ensemble's adventurous programming with director Joo-Mee Lee, as well as the not-so-typical venues being used for their performances — their Fall concert took place in the casual Oak Lounge at Tresidder Union. Their next concert takes place February 18th at 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Anderson Collection, with musicians and audience surrounded by contemporary art.
The New Ensemble was founded in 1970 and has traditionally focused on experimental music, often serving as a vehicle for Stanford's graduate composers. Lee has broadened the scope of the New Ensemble by including classical works from 1900 to the present. | Read the full article at Stanford News.
