Achievements & Awards

Recent Department of Music faculty honors and achievements

We have a number of Department of Music faculty members to congratulate for their recent honors and achievements:

  • Jonathan BergerDenning Family Provostial Professor in Music, has recently been awarded a grant from the Templeton Religion Trust to study the interaction of music and space. Other collaborators from Stanford include Jonathan Abel, Elliot Canfield, Camille Noufi, and Talya Berger.
  • The Kronos Quartet has recorded and published Professor Mark Applebaum's commission Flashlight as part of Fifty for the Future, a library of fifty contemporary works designed to guide string quartets in developing and honing the skills required for the performance of 21st-century repertoire.
  • Wendy Hillhouse, Lecturer (Voice), has completed the Master of Liberal Arts at Stanford with her thesis, "Singing the Unsung Songs: James Joyce, Chamber Music, and the Singing Effect."
