Stanford drum set lecturer David Rokeach is accepting drum students for private online lessons (Music 177A/277A). There are still a few open slots left for the Autumn quarter. You can be a complete beginner with absolutely no musical experience, an advanced player looking to hone your skills, or anywhere in between. You will explore many different styles of music, and can work on favorite songs, as well.
If you don’t have access to a drum set, no problem! A practice pad can be used. Note: Drum practice rooms at Braun Music Center are available to on-campus graduate students.
A long-time Bay Area resident, David has been working primarily in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas for more than 20 years and has recorded, toured, and appeared on television with artists such as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Mavis Staples, Patti LaBelle, Mariah Carey, Céline Dion, Rita Moreno, and many others. He has been in the band for musicals including Jersey Boys, Les Misérables, Ragtime, Ain't Nothin' But The Blues, and Love Janis. David also been a faculty member at the Stanford Jazz Workshop, California Jazz Conservatory (formerly Jazzschool) in Berkeley, Lafayette Summer Music Jazz Workshop, and Jazz Camp West.
"My feeling is that music in general, and drums in particular, should be fun!" — David Rokeach
