Jazz faculty pianist Murray Low featured on new Charged Particles CD
Stanford Department of Music lecturer and pianist Murray Low is enjoying international acclaim for his playing on Live at the Baked Potato!, the latest CD release by the jazz trio Charged Particles, where Low is joined by fellow Stanford faculty member and drummer Jon Krosnick along with bassist Aaron Germain. The CD features live performances of compositions by jazz great Michael Brecker, recorded at the famed Baked Potato jazz club in Los Angeles, with guest tenor saxophonist and Bay Area favorite Tod Dickow. A review of the disc in the authoritative Downbeat magazine said that the album highlight is a tune on which Murray “builds mystery and surprise,” and L.A. Jazz Scene magazine said Murray contributes “excitement and creativity” to the record.
By the way, Murray will be directing next week's performance by the Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble at Dinkelspiel Auditorium on Friday, November 19th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available online only at Stanford Ticket Office.
