Department award winners at New Interface for Musical Expression (NIME) 2020

Assistant Professor (Composition) Patricia Alessandrini and doctoral student Doga Cavdir both received awards at New Interface for Musical Expression (NIME) 2020, which took place this month.

Dr. Alessandrini received the NIME 2020 Accessibility Award for her publication "Mondgewächse: A Collaborative Methodology For Audiovisual Mappings in Inclusive Instrument Design", alongside her collaborators Freida Abtan (Goldsmiths), Sophia Alexandersson (ShareMusic), and Pete Larsson (Influence Ensemble).

Doga is the recipient of the NIME 2020 Pamela Z Award for Innovation, Diversity, and Inclusion for the paper "Felt Sound: A Shared Musical Experience for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing".
