The winners of the 2018 Stanford Concerto Competition are Léa Bourgade, Papa Odita-Honnah, and Taide Ding, with Aditya Chander selected as Alternate.
The Concerto Competition winners will perform as featured soloists with Stanford's orchestras during the next academic year. Léa will perform Korngold's Violin Concerto with Stanford Symphony Orchestra (SSO) in Fall 2018, Papa will perform Ibert's Flute Concerto with SSO in Winter 2019, and Taide will perform Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat major with Stanford Philharmonia during 2019 (all dates TBA). Aditya will perform Chausson's Poème for Violin and Orchestra in July with the Stanford Summer Orchestra.
Congratulations to the winners and much appreciation to all the entrants in this year's competition! The judges Jennifer Culp (Cellist and Chair of Strings at the SF Conservatory of Music) and Eric Dudley (Director of the Conservatory Orchestra, and Chair of Conducting at the SF Conservatory of Music) were very impressed by the participants' extremely high level of playing.
Thanks also to all the performance faculty, collaborative pianists, and supporting musicians involved in today's competition, and to Adriana Ramirez Mirabal for helping it run so smoothly.
