National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship awarded to CCRMA's Jack Atherton

CCRMA grad student Jack Atherton has been awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, which recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines. As part of this fellowship, Jack will continue his research towards designing an emotionally-aware programming development environment.

Kirke Mechem (Music, '51) receives Nicolas Slonimsky Award

As part of the 48th annual ASCAP Foundation Deems Taylor / Virgil Thomson Awards last monthKirke Mechem (Music, '51) received the Nicolas Slonimsky Award for Outstanding Musical Biography in the concert music field for his book, Believe Your Ears: Life of a Lyric Composer. The book was published by Rowman & Littlefield last year and will be released in paperback next February.
