About this event

Zach Moses's presentation, "Making Great Music with Anyone: How to Play Your Best in Every Situation", will demonstrate and discuss various techniques and concepts that he employs to connect and lock in with other musicians on stage and in the studio to help make the best music possible with anyone, anywhere — particularly important when musicians are playing together for the first time, which happens more often than you might think! Playing with selected Stanford students, Zach will illustrate the techniques he's developed. Most of the class will focus on jazz repertoire, but the concepts presented will be relevant to all genres of music.

Zach Moses is a multi-instrumental musician, singer, songwriter, producer, mixing and mastering engineer, composer (film, TV, and commercials), and educator. In addition to his own music projects, Zach has performed with artists including Ibrahim Maalouf, Angelique Kidjo, Joshua Redman, Wynton Marsalis, Louis Cole, Esperanza Spalding, Zakir Hussain, Brian Blade, Dayna Stephens, Taylor Eigsti, Charles Altura, Jaron Lanier, Josh Groban, Joshua Bell, Tootie Heath, James Francies, Joel Ross, Eric Harland, Cris Williamson, Barbara Higbie, Diving Dame, and so many others who greatly inspire him. He has played at venues across the globe and has performed at the Grammys®, on HBO’s Masterclass, and at the White House and United Nations.

Zach has been a part of Stanford’s jazz community for a long time, attending Stanford Jazz Workshop as a youth before attending as an undergrad (’17 B.S.) and graduate student (’19 M.A. Environmental Communications).

Zach Moses will also appear with electronic artist Arswain at the Bing Studio on Friday, January 27 at 7:00 pm, presented by Stanford Live.
