About this event

CCRMA presents Terre Thaemlitz's Deproduction, a multi-media Sound/Reading (2017), to be followed by Q&A with the artist. In Deproduction, Terre Thaemlitz investigates the awkward, uncomfortable, and hypocritical power dynamics behind Western Humanist notions of family, and how they function internationally through processes of globalization.

For Optimal Listening: Use a well balanced speaker system or headphones with full dynamic range. (Do not use built-in speakers on a laptop or cell phone, etc.) Because these works use little compression and move between quiet and loud passages, it is recommended to set your volume level a bit louder than usual for your sound system, and leave it at a steady volume throughout. Adjust your base volume level during the first track, "Names Have Been Changed," so that the recurring string chords feel a bit on the loud side and fill your room. A read-along text document will be available during the event.
