About this event

Internationally acclaimed organist Dr. Robert Huw Morgan presents his annual holiday recital. Dr. Morgan is University Organist, Lecturer in Organ, and Director of both the Stanford University Singers and the Memorial Church Choir at Stanford University. The native of Wales holds dual doctorates in Organ Performance and Orchestral Conducting from the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Morgan is an active recitalist whose repertoire runs from the earliest sources to contemporary music.

In 2005, he performed the complete works of Dieterich Buxtehude to celebrate the Fisk organ’s 20th anniversary. In 2010–2011, he performed the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach in a series of 14 concerts on the Stanford Fisk organ. He has toured as both a soloist and accompanist in Europe, the Americas and Australia, and his recorded performances have been broadcast in the U.S. and abroad.

In addition to his doctorates, Dr. Morgan holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Cambridge University, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. For three years he was an Organ Scholar at St. John’s College, Cambridge University, where he was organist for the daily Chapel services, and assisted in the leadership of the Chapel’s choir under the celebrated choral conductor George Guest. His principal organ teachers include Carole Terry, Nicolas Kynaston and Nigel Allcoat.
