Steve Reich: “Daniel Variations” and “Different Trains”

This annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days Concert honors the life and memory of Stanford alumnus Daniel Pearl, the violin-playing Wall Street Journal reporter who was murdered in 2002. The program will feature Steve Reich’s “Daniel Variations,” which quotes the Book of Daniel, as well as Pearl himself, and the Grammy-winning “Different Trains,” a work that reflects on the plight of the European Jewish community during World War II. Performers will include the St. Lawrence String Quartet and others.
