About this event

Steve Reich: “Daniel Variations” and “Different Trains”

This annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days Concert honors the life and memory of Stanford alumnus Daniel Pearl, the violin-playing Wall Street Journal reporter who was murdered in 2002. The St. Lawrence String Quartet will be joined by Stanford music faculty, students, and friends for this concert featuring Steve Reich's Different Trains for string quartet and pre-recorded tape and Reich's Daniel Variations, written in memory of Daniel Pearl. "Danny's writings and irrepressible spirit shine through Steve Reich's work," says Owen Dalby. "It's an honor to be able to pay homage to a remarkable man and his legacy through this music."
