About this event

Lost Interferences is an online participatory performance presented by the Ars Electronica Festival. This event will be presented on Zoom on September 11 at 4 AM PDT (free admission), and again at 9 AM PDT as part of the Ars Electronica Festival. An Ars Electronica Festival pass (€0-9) grants access to all online festival events, including the 9 AM performance of Lost Interferences, and can be purchased here.

The project features experiences of loss collected directly from people and via the website lostinterferences.eu, where you can also submit your own story. Composer Constantin Basica performs from CCRMA on three pianos and live electronics, joined in a virtual setting by Romanian actress Maia Morgenstern and countertenor Romeo Cornelius appearing with an in-person audience at BRD Residence Scene9 in Bucharest, RO. For the online audience, the show is dubbed live into English by Irina Margareta Nistor.

The three elements of Lost Interferences—participatory performance, interactive website, and participatory sound installation—utilize an AI system devised and trained by Prateek Verma that associates music to text and vice versa based on attributes of the language such as affect and sentiment.
