2019-20 Award Auditions and Deadlines
Your application will need to include a link to a preliminary audition video to be considered. Applications with videos must be submitted by Friday, March 6, 2020 at 5:00 p.m., and students should be available for the following dates to be considered for an award:
- Auditions: Saturday, April 18, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Campbell Recital Hall
- Awards Dinner and Concert: Performances will be divided into two concerts on Friday, May 1, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., dinner and awards ceremony at 6:00 p.m.
Soloists have 10 minutes maximum for the video, and shorter pieces are welcome. Only unedited videos recorded within one calendar year prior to the March 4 deadline are eligible. For the video round of auditions, memorization is not required. Memorization is required for final, live auditions, with the exception of chamber musicians, harpsichordists, organists, and solo performers presenting works of such complexity that memorization would constitute an unreasonable burden. In the latter case, the applicant is to present to the committee a formal petition to this effect signed by the studio teacher. Candidates must provide their own accompanists. Repertoire performed at the final round should be the same as that included on the video.
Finalists will be announced on Monday, April 6, 2020, and will receive a link to sign up for live audition times. This year's award auditions will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020 in Campbell Recital Hall.
If selected as a winner, you will also be required to perform at this year's Department Awards Concert on Friday, May 1, 2020.
Awards are given in the following areas:
— Chamber Ensemble (two [or more] instruments or voices plus piano)
- Thesis Papers
