2020-21 Award Application Information

The Department of Music Awards application is open and accepting submissions in the following areas:

    ▪    Composition
    ▪    Performance:
         ▫    Instrumental
         ▫    Piano
         ▫    Vocal
    ▪    Thesis Papers

Winning videos will be presented in an online program hosted on the Department of Music site in Spring Quarter.

Application Requirements

Composition: Submissions should include a score and audio file (either an electronic sound file, or a recording of a work for a solo instrument). Only works composed within 12 months of the March 19 deadline are eligible. Any winning composition would need to be performed in some way on video and 10 minutes or shorter in length in order to be included in the streamed awards concert. Guidelines for creating a good video here.

Performance: Submissions should be in video format and between 5-10 minutes in length each. Only unedited videos recorded within three months prior to the March 19 deadline are eligible. Memorization is not required. Soloists have the option of performing with recorded accompaniment or remote accompaniment with low-latency technology or unaccompanied.
