2021-22 Award Application Information
The Department of Music Awards application is open and accepting submissions in the following areas:
▪ Thesis Papers
A complete list of this year's awards can be found here.
Awards Dinner and Concert: Friday, May 20, Dinner and Awards Ceremony at 6:00 p.m., Concert Program 1 at 4:30 p.m.; Concert Program 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Composition: A submission should include the score and audio file (digital playback or recording) of a work whose duration does not exceed 10 minutes.
Performance: Submissions should be in video format. Soloists have 10 minutes maximum for the video, and shorter pieces are welcome. Only unedited videos recorded within one calendar year prior to the March 7 deadline are eligible. For the video round of auditions, memorization is not required. Memorization is required for final, live auditions, with the exception of chamber musicians, harpsichordists, organists, and solo performers presenting works of such complexity that memorization would constitute an unreasonable burden. In the latter case, the applicant is to present to the committee a formal petition to this effect signed by the studio teacher. Candidates must provide their own accompanists. Repertoire performed at the final round should be the same as that included on the video.
Time slots for creating a performance video have been reserved in Braun Rehearsal Hall the week prior to the March 7 deadline. Reserve a slot here.
Guidelines for creating a good video here.
Thesis Papers: Contact Rowen Leigh at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applications must be submitted by Monday, March 7, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.
