Summer Chorus Director: Rafael Ornes
The Stanford Summer Chorus is a non-auditioned community chorus sponsored by the Stanford Department of Music. Membership is open to everyone; singers typically come from all corners of the Bay Area, and from all age groups and ability levels.
This year, the Summer Chorus concert will take place on Friday, August 5th at 7:30 p.m. in Bing Concert Hall.
The Concert is titled "Earth Songs", and the theme is a celebration of Nature. The centerpiece for the concert is Paul Winter's "Missa Gaia". Along with this are several contemporary works ("Earth Song" by Frank Ticheli, "Island in Space" by Kirke Mechem) and a set of spirituals, which center on the theme of "Water" ("Wade in the Water", "Deep River", "Down to the River to Pray").
The Stanford Summer Chorus rehearses on Tuesday nights, 7:15 - 9:45 p.m., starting on June 23rd in Campbell Recital Hall at Braun Music Center on the Stanford campus. The dress rehearsal will take place on Thursday, August 4th in Bing Concert Hall. | Directions to Campbell Recital Hall
There is a participation fee of $60 (waived for Stanford students and faculty) plus the cost of the score packet. We recommend you arrive between 6:30 - 6:45 p.m. to register and pay your fee at the first rehearsal on June 23rd.
Please contact Rafael Ornes, director of the Summer Chorus with any questions.
