Each of the SuNet ID-protected program links on his site augment the Stanford Bulletin (ExploreDegrees), the Graduate Academic Policies and Procedures online manual (GAP) and other University publications. Initially, these pages will provide you with an accounting of the major academic milestones associated with your particular graduate program. Links to outside sources and forms are included to assist you with locating proper forms and instructions guiding the policies involved with each milestone.
These pages contain some, but not all, department-specific policies, procedures, and degree requirements. The department reserves the right to make changes at any time without prior notice. Further information and resources are available in the Department of Music Graduate Handbook, from the Chair of the Graduate Studies Committee and from student services staff.
It is the responsibility of each student to familiarize themselves with this information and to seek clarification as needed. Additionally, it is the student's responsibility to review the Department of Music Graduate Handbook on an annual basis.
Incoming graduates are assigned an initial faculty advisor based on perceived best fit at the time of acceptance to a degree program. Only Academic Council Teaching Faculty (“ACTFac” – any tenure-track faculty, i.e., Assistant, Associate, and full Professors), are eligible to serve as graduate program advisors; however, non-ACTFac instructors may serve as co-advisors in conjunction with an ACTFac instructor. See the faculty listing on the Music website at: https://music.stanford.edu/people/faculty.
Please see the Stanford Bulletin for details concerning the Department of Music's Graduate Advising Expectations.
