The Department of Music offers weekly music lessons on the instruments listed below. Lessons are not limited to Music students, but auditions may be required. Follow the links below for more information regarding fees and audition schedules for each specific instrument. You can review the minimum proficiency requirements for your specific instrument(s) here.

• Unless otherwise listed, all lessons are private.
• All lessons within the Department incur lesson fees. Fees for individual lessons are $325 per quarter for Music majors and $600 per quarter for non-majors. Fees for group lessons are $175 per quarter for Music majors and $200 per quarter for non-majors. These fees will be charged to your student bill.
• Financial support is available for students from the Friends of Music at Stanford. Contact the Department of Music office for more information about scholarships.
• Please be mindful of the section you are signing up for. There are multiple sections offered of some beginning level courses. 270-level courses are for advanced students. In addition, know that you are not considered enrolled for the class until you also sign up in AXESS. If you are granted a spot at the end of your registration, or after contacting your instructor, show up to class on the first day to receive a guaranteed spot in the class. If AXESS does not let you sign up prior to the first class meeting, a permission number distributed by your instructor may be required.
